Fall Break

We had a very fun Fall Break!! Since the boys had the whole week off of school we took to opportunity to go visit Tim's parents for the week in Southern Utah. We all had a blast, but I think the kids especially enjoyed the beautiful fall weather and playing outside in the fresh air.

We stopped in Las Vegas on our way there and had lunch with Tim's sister Rachel and two of her kids.

Molly took a second nap for the day, which was a real win for us!

We got to Pine Valley Monday afternoon and a whole group of turkeys greeted us outside the family park. The boys loved chasing the turkeys around and collecting their feathers. Peter cornered one of the turkeys and almost caught it with his bare hands.

On Tuesday we went on a beautiful walk to the reservoir. 

Molly loves to sit and play with rocks and dirt.

Getting a family picture where not only everyone is looking at the camera, but we're all smiling nicely....well....it' nearly impossible. Oliver looks pained and Peter looks loopy! 

After our hike, we went to Enterprise to have lunch at Marv's. They have yummy burgers and delicious curly fries.

All three kids spent a ton of time in the backyard on the swing set. They LOVED it!

Oliver and Peter helped make some fun scarecrows.

Maxine painted this fun sign for an entomologist (someone show studies bugs) who is new to their town.

He's opening a bug museum and let us check out some of his bug collection.

Maxine is learning to play the piano and Molly likes to sit by her and "help" her while she practices.

Wednesday night I went to Mama Mia with Tim's mom and sister in law Robyn at Tuacahn. It was so much fun!! Love live shows!

There are always lots of things to do at the cabin to keep busy. Peter helped refill the bird feeders.

Oliver decided to sit on the step for a minute and Molly sat herself right beside him. I love it when the oldest and the youngest have a minute together.

Tim had a Birthday on Thursday. We had fun celebrating him with his parent and two of his siblings and their families. We love our Tim!!

Friday morning we went to a pretty fun park in St. George.

Molly did not love when I made her go down the slide with the boys.

Then we went on a little train ride around the park.

After the park we had lunch at Chick-Fil-A and then drove to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

We saw buffalo on our way. Apparently they aren't truly buffalo. They are cow and bison mixed...?

Then we made it to the Grand Canyon where we had a death grip on our children for 24 hours.

It was so beautiful and so amazing as per usual, but I seriously did not enjoy having my littles there. They are just too young to really appreciate the severity of the drop offs and I've heard too many crazy stories.

I was much less stressed when we were inside the lodge. This is Brighty the Burro. Rubbing his nose is supposed to bring you good luck.

We spent the night at the North rim then woke up Saturday morning and drove the hikers van (Claire had taken our van the day before) to the South rim. We had breakfast at Jacobs Lake and got an ice cream at the south rim.

Nothing like eating an ice cream cone with that amazing view behind you.

We even braved it down a couple of switched backs. Notice how we are hugging the wall. And that Molly is strapped into here stroller, which Tim really struggled to push down....not a stroller friendly trail.

After switching back to our van we stopped in Flagstaff and had dinner at Wildflower Bread Co. on our way home. And home was a very welcome sight. 

So glad to have another memorable Fall Break to look back on! And now we are never leaving town again ;)
