Our kids have been asking to go to LEGOland for quite some time now. We went there maybe 4 years ago, before Molly, and I don't think either of the boys have any memories of it, so we decided to take them before they outgrew it. And even though both Tim and I would have rather been at Disneyland, we still had a great time.
We got to Escondido Monday afternoon and went straight to our friends, the Thacker's, for dinner. Our kids had a great time playing together and Maren made us a delicious dinner. We stayed at a random Air BnB in San Marcos in the basement of a mansion on top of a hill. It was kind of a weird situation, but it worked out. On Tuesday morning we got up and headed to the LEGOland in Carlsbad. The kids loved it!
Wishing that we had stayed at the Legoland hotel.
We have arrived!
First ride.
Three in one boat and three in the other.
LEGO "Friends"
She's so great! I love how she's holding the statue's arm.
They loved the carousel even thought they pretended like they didn't love riding the girlie ride.
And Molly did not want me holding on to her. "Don't worry mom ok? I can do it mom" Her confidence is inspiring.
My cousin's wife, Mel, and her two boys drove down from Burbank to hang with us. We loved being with cousins. Peter and Oakley
Jail brake!
Oliver and Hunter
Me and Mel
The boys loved the dog going on the fire hydrant.
Molly really wanted to ride this little train with me. It was pretty lame and pretty funny.
The kids built this little retaining wall with giant legos and then busted it later.
Practicing for his drivers license. Only 10 1/2 more years.
She was bouncing off all of the curbs. It was great!
Lovin it!
Molly was not excited about this ride, but she was a good sport.
I was laughing and consoling her the entire time.
Looking for people to spray.
How cute are these three?!? Glad I captured such a sweet moment. I stayed on dry ground while Jack slept.
Star War's statues. Each kid had fun posing with one.
Oliver and this special face he makes.....
Molly posed with pretty much all of them. I thought this one was pretty cute.
Darth
Oliver and Tim on the hydro jets.
Molly loved this ride so much! I think she went on it two or three times. It was such a random little ride.
Going on it with dad. I think its funny that Tim squished both of them in the same seat.
The Jumping Beetle with the Thacker's.
The Thacker's met up with us for a couple of hours. My boys loved it!!
Going on the technic roller coaster with Oliver, Mel and Hunter. It was one of those short little coasters that takes you up to the top and then winds you down and you think you are going to fall off the edge at any moment. I kinda hated it! Haha!
My cute little Knight.
The Dragon coaster
Ready to leave the park. We had a nice long day there.
Wednesday we spent the morning at the beach.
Molly helped Tim fly a kite.
It was Jacks first time at the beach and he LOVED the sand!
Peter's a pretty happy beach goer.
Waiting for the tide to catch us.
We determined that when you are spoiled by having a beach house with a beach that you are super familiar with every summer, it kinda makes going to a new beach with no nice warm showers close by, not as fun. Getting cleaned up was a LOT of work.
After the beach we met up with some of my old work friends. It was so fun to catch up.
Then we decided to head home Wednesday night instead of Thursday morning. We stopped at In N' Out in El Centro on our way home and Molly who had been complaining of her tummy the entire time had diarrhea in the bathroom and then threw up at our table. Tim's cat like refluxes caught most of the throw up in water cups. It was kind of a mess. BUT we all lived to tell the tale.
It was fun to go on a little vacation with our own family. We made some great memories and had a good time.
