Getting Away for the Weekend

Tim's been working some pretty long days this month. Add that to heat and pregnancy and a teething two year old and........you fill in the blank. But, he had a RFW (the residents call that a regular freaking weekend). It's kind of a rare thing at times in residency when you have BOTH Saturday and Sunday off in their entirety. We decided to take advantage and head up to the cabin on Saturday morning. We met my sister and her family up there. It was so nice to get out of the heat and to have Tim's full attention. And sweet Oliver was in little boy heaven. The great outdoors is playground. And even though I did feel a bit guilty for playing hooky from church, it was such a great weekend. We had equal parts rain, sunshine, and cloud cover which made for the perfect combination.

These two are up to no good. Here they are taking turns poking a bug.

Here they are getting rocks to throw in the creek.

Here they have discovered Elle's headbands.

Here they are posing for a picture in the chicken coop.

Rhett

Oliver. I could kiss his face off!

Taking a nice little walk after naps. Fortunately none of the children rolled down the mountain to their death (this was Tim's fear and made me feel happy that I'm not the only one with irrational fears up in here).

Awkward family photo. That darn little bump is throwing off my groove. Not only do I look awkward in pictures, but doing the dishes is getting uncomfortable (you try standing 4 inches further away from the sink than usual).

Checking out the stink bugs.

No idea we were being watched or photographed.

My husband, Jack Nicholson.

Oliver insisted on getting all the way inside the fireplace.

The pirate face.

The clouds on the drive home reminded me very much of Hawaii. They were pretty incredible.
