The Davie Diaries: Vacation Week

Last week was Tim's last vacation week of his first year. Second year he only has three (first year he had four). We had a really nice week. Tuesday morning we left for Southern Utah to visit Tim's parents. I felt bad that Tim missed out on seeing Oliver have so much fun with his parents last month, that I thought we should go back. We had a really great time. It's a pretty long drive unfortunately (7 1/2 hours each way), but Oliver was a pretty good little passenger and I'm not pregnant enough for it to be to uncomfortable. We did a good job taking pictures on this trip (go us!!), so be prepared for picture overload.

CREMEIES!!!! Oh my goodness these ice cream pops are my favorite. I was obsessed with them at BYU. And I think UT is the only place the sells them. My favorite flavor is banana, but Oliver quite enjoyed his chocolate.

Can you tell the sun was in our eyes?!?! Tim's parents have created this beautiful park across the street from their cabin. They made the bench that we are sitting on and lots of the other cool chairs and bird houses. It's a fun place for the grandkids to run around.

The cows are back in Pine Valley for the summer. They are kind of all over the place (including one of the main roads). Oliver had fun mooooing at them......

We went on a really pretty walk with Tim's parents up to the reservoir and Oliver did one of his favorite things, threw rocks into the water.

The path is nicely paved so we could keep Oliver in his stroller. Let's be honest, if we had let him walk we would have spent the better part of the day getting to the reservoir and back.

Oliver and Tim and Grandpa Davie made a really cool toy box. It started out a little too big, so we had to shorten it.

Oliver is a pretty good helper. And he's pretty interested if nothing else.

This boy loves tools and his grandpas workshop is like a wonderland to him.

Even Uncle Dan and Cameron got to help with the box building.

The final product is beautiful (not going to be on a stand), but was still too big to bring home in our car. Hopefully's Tim's parents will bring it down for us when they come to meet the new baby in October/November.

Poor Tim forgot his contact case (not the first time as he knew exactly what to do).

Oliver LOVED helping grandma water her little plants.

Tim and I went on a date to St. George and saw Mary Poppins at Tuachan. It was pretty amazing and super hot! But the outdoor amphitheater allows for some very cool effects including some fireworks.

And, the back drop is the beautiful red rock mountains that surround St. George.

Tim went on a bik ride with his brother Dan.

They met us at the Veyo Pool. It's an actual swimming pool that is filled with fresh spring water daily.

Oliver loved swimming with his cousins and grandparents.

Dan's family came up from St. George to go swimming.

Right next to the pool is a creek where you can go crawdad hunting.

Oliver got to do more rock throwing, which he loved.

We had a nice time just hanging out at the cabin. I think I took a nap almost every day. It was delightful!

Is it so weird that he finds vacuum attachements where ever we go and he clings to them?!?!?

Oliver also got to help grandma make bread (which he loved).

The last night there, Oliver had a hard time sleeping and so I pulled him into bed with me and Tim. This is not my favorite thing to do and I usually don't let him, but since we were out of town and there were other people to be woken up by his hollering, I caved. You can tell by the picture that I was eventually pushed out of the bed and that Oliver insisted on bringing the vacuum attachement to bed with him (see it behind his bum in the picture).
