This week has been pretty great! After our delightful day Monday (where we stayed up watching Once Upon a Time until 1:30 a.m. and slept in 'till 9 - thank you Whitney for watching Oliver!), we went apartment/house hunting to see what's out there. After about an hour of being sick to my stomach (I am not excited about finding an affordable/comfortable/safe place to live.......it's seems nearly impossible to find all three), we called it quits and went to Whit's to pick up the boy and work a little longer on the pantry project. Whit and I went to Target while Tim watched the babies. Between IKEA and Target she spent around $75 (FYI Target has some cute baskets in their "$1" section) and this is what we last ended with:
We were pretty excited about it
It still needs a little work, but it's definitely more progress
Oliver played a little piano for us while we worked
And he had fun playing with Rhett
And playing with Dad
That evening we helped Grandma plant flowers - Oliver was very serious about the task
Wednesday morning we went to the park
Wednesday evening Grandma and Grandpa Davie came. They brought Tim's rocking horse that his mom made him when he was Oliver's age. "Timmy" is painted on the seat, it's so cute and Oliver really enjoys rocking on it. They also brought a quilt that Tim helped his mom make when he was little. He drew a bunch of little monsters and Maxine transfered them over to fabric to make this cute little quilt. We are pretty excited that we get to add that to our blanket collection. Tim was a pretty creative little boy!
This morning we went to the zoo. This was Tim and Oliver's first time to the Phoenix zoo. We signed up for a membership (thanks to Frank and Maxine's very generous never ending graduation present. The gift that truly keeps on giving!) We had a great time at the zoo!
Oliver road a carousel for the first time.........he was painfully uninterested (no tears though).
Hanging outside the tigers
Oliver loved these monkeys. This little guy was right up against the glass just entertaining us.
Loving Grandpa
Tim and his mom with the photo bomb from the Rhino
It's been so great to have these two in town, Oliver is really taking to them
The monkey exhibit. You pretty much get to walk around while the monkey's swing all around you. It's pretty cool if you can keep away from their constant urinating :/
Have a tortoise!
After Oliver took a nice nap and we made pizza for lunch, we went to the children's museum (also a delightful gift compliments of Frank and Maxine). We had fun showing them what a wonderful time Oliver has every time he goes.
The "car wash" with Grandpa
"Plinko" with Grandma
Measuring out split peas with Dad
Twinners and they didn't even know it.
It has been a FABULOUS week so far. It's reminding me a little bit of our last few months in San Diego when Tim had so much time off. It was so fun to spend every day together playing and spending time with Oliver. It really is fun to have family time. We LOVE it!
